Apprentice learning to weld

This is my first auto lens and I have been using it extensively since starting my apprenticeship's welding course 10 weeks ago. At first, I believed my unit was defective as it turned dark when exposed to overhead lights and room lamps to the point where it seemed useless as an auto lens as everything was causing it to darken. I contacted TrueArc and quickly had a hassle-free replacement with much better results. For three weeks straight, ten hours a day I used this lens to learn Flux welding in 3F and 4F positions without issues. After that, I also acquired and compared it to a larger name brand and this one was always able to meet or exceed the abilities of the bigger name brand. I also used it to learn stick in 3F and 4F and am now starting to learn 3G flux. After 10 weeks the majority of my time has been spent with this lens. I also lent it to a couple of other apprentices who had favorable things to say about it.

I do think the blue color is more sensitive to the cover lens getting dirty compared to the true color on the other lens so I recommend swapping cover plates more frequently for best results. I also recommend not being an idiot like me and shoving your face into the weld puddle. Unfortunately, I have melted the plastic edges slightly, causing them to warp and resulting in occasional black spots in the lens when it isn't darkened. I have not been flashed and 99% of the time it still works perfectly despite my inexperience-induced damage.

I think TrueArc should upload a video of how it looks through the lens because it's a beautiful shade of blue that's very easy to stare at all day. I would upload something but the company I work for deals with government projects and filming is prohibited.

Overall, if you're looking for a responsive and reliable auto lens in a blue color I believe this lens to be worth the money.
I have used it in both the Tefuawe pipeliner and a Tigerhood (after filing down the cartridge slot slightly)

I bought 2 of the blue lenses. A little dark on the light shade but the clarity while welding can’t be beat. Can’t beat the price either.

I’m having flash issues whenever I tig weld but the lens works perfect for stick & mig welding, color of the puddle is beautiful
